No visa, no fee, no application — a 90-day Social Visit Pass on arrival. Bring an onward ticket and a 6-month-valid passport.
US passport holders enter Malaysia without any visa for stays up to 90 days. Immigration stamps a Social Visit Pass on arrival covering tourism, family visits and most business meetings. There is no eVisa to file and no fee to pay — anyone charging US tourists a Malaysia visa fee is selling nothing.
Passport validity (6+ months), an onward ticket within 90 days, and plausibility of funds. The onward ticket is the one people forget and the one officers ask about most — a refundable booking removes the issue entirely.
Ninety days per entry is not a residence permit. Back-to-back runs get flagged in the electronic entry log; a pattern of max-stays with one-day exits reads as living in Malaysia on tourist entries. For longer stays, look at the DE Rantau nomad pass or employment routes instead.
